Prairie Nymphs are an Iris relative native to Texas and South America and are a lovely bluish-violet subtropical flowering bulbs with a white eye. This petite species (under 6" in height) has narrow green foliage making it an excellent candidate for container gardening; although its naturalized in the lawns of Texas. Prairie Nymphs like medium moisture levels while in growth, full to partial sun, and bloom in March for us. When their basic needs are met; they prove easy and reliable naturalizing bulbs that reward their owners by happily reproducing remarkably easily from seed. Good for growing in zones 8-9.

This delightful native of South America is a winter growing and spring blooming Iris relative which likes it moist throughout the year and slightly acidic soil too. Its our favorite of the small Iris family members because it blooms blue with a white stripe down each petal; and blooms continuously and heavily from March until the end of May, very floriferous at about 7" in height. It loves full winter sun and warmer winter temperatures. Good for zones 9-10.
