Early On
Not only is it early, it's very new! This spectacular Louisiana Iris is a medium to light orchid with creamy orchid highlights; with a yellow signal and orange style lines. 'Early On' attains a height of 36" and is a very vigorous and robust new introduction. One of our very favorites!
Frenchmen Street

Another new early blooming Louisiana Iris that is a light golden-orange color with orange spear signals. This robust grower attains a lofty height of 38" and is also vigorous. Sometimes this Louisiana Iris will form offsets much like those found on a daylilly. This iris often has 4 to 5 open blooms at once. Simply spectacular in person.
Hordern's Henry
This huge 43" early blooming Louisiana Iris is a ruffled yellowish-green with a yellow steeple signal and style arms. A quite large, robust, vigorous grower!
Jacaranda Lad
This is an iris that simply defies description in our gardens! It's supposed to have mid-season blooms, but it's a very early (one of the earliest) blooming variety in our gardens. It's supposed to be a soft jacaranda blue in color, but it's definitely mid-blue in our opinion. It has a lime green steeple signal and is one of the tallest (at 40") and one of the most vigorous growers we have ever encountered. It is a beautiful mid-blue Louisiana Iris with pink accents; and always catches the attention of anyone strolling by!
Our Parris

This unusual Louisiana Iris has standards and falls that are a creamy dusky-pink with dusky pink speckles all over! It also has creamy green veining and a gold dagger signal. It grows 36" and is ruffled too!
Prytania
Another great new variety of early-blooming Louisiana Iris that is only 28-30" tall. 'Prytania' is a deep yellow color with an orange signal and a zigzag stalk. Superb for the front border of a cottage garden!
Sinfonietta

A very unusual mid-blue color on an early blooming Louisiana Iris with a golden-yellow crest. It grows to a height of 33"; and although it is an older variety; we like it for the uniqueness of the blooms. Very vigorous too!
Spice World

As expected by its name, this early blooming variety is a soft mocha color with a golden fan signal and yellow style arms. Another vigorous grower; but shorter at 34". Very spicy indeed!
Sunshine Bridge
This is a tall 38-40" early blooming variety of Louisiana Iris with rose-colored falls and creamy rose-colored standards. It has a bright yellow signal and is as warm as its name! The blooms are somewhat flared, much like that of its species ancestors, and is also a robust grower.
Southdowns

This early blooming Louisiana Iris is a unique, pale icy-blue color with light purple veining and the entire bloom is suffused white. A truly ethereal color and is 36" tall. This is a breathtaking iris and "glows" like a ghost in early evening hours. Definitely for the lover's of the supernatural!
The Mid-to-Late Season Louisiana Iris Blooms:
Acadian Miss

An older white, a very vigorous grower, and our very favorite white Louisiana Iris here at Solas Gardens!
Almeria

Another older, but exceptional Louisiana Iris that is very vigorous with beige stands with wide rose veining. It has rose style arms, with dusky-red style arms and dusky-red falls. Nice yellow signal and is pretty tall at 36".
Barataria

A real eye-catching almost day-glo bright rose pink Louisiana Iris that really makes a statement in the garden! It stands about 34" high.
Beausoleil

This is one of our favorite Louisiana Iris' for a number of reasons. Beausoleil is a french last name; one that very special people to us share. Beausoleil is a beautiful light pink Lousiana Iris; one of the prettiest light pinks in our opinion with a small yellow line signal and very tall at 40-44".
Bellevue's Michelle

An older, but lovely mauve and blush pink variety with lavender edges and falls. It's ruffled and rather petite ate 30".
Danza

An older white variety that blooms about mid-to-late in the season in our gardens at 35". A good white.
Dixie Deb

This is an older yellow variety that is pretty and petite at about 24". If you know us, you have no doubt as to why we grow this variety of Louisiana Iris!
Easter Tide

This older, classic Louisiana Iris actually seems to always bloom for us on Easter day! Many love this variety for it unusual coloring--stands are lavender-blue with light yellow falls and lavender-pink style arms. It has an orange-yellow signal and stays fairly short for us, about 26"-30" high. This is a very popular variety that many folks who grow very few Louisiana Iris will usually own at least one!
Emory Smith

One of the prettiest soft blue-lavender Louisiana Iris varieties with soft cream styles. A good grower at 36".
Eolian

The word 'Eolian' in gelogical terms refers to deposits carried by the wind. If the wind had a color, it would be the beautiful blue of this old variety of Louisiana Iris. It has a light yellow crest, is slightly ruffled, and stands a lofty 42" high as it gently sways in the spring breeze. This is our favorite light blue variety.
Feliciana Hills
This older pink 34" high variety is a very vigorous grower with a yellow dagger signal. An oldy but goody!
Gentilly

This somewhat newer variety of Louisiana Iris is a peachy-beige with a yellow dagger signal surrounded by orange. A tall (36") and robust grower for us appearing almost apricot when viewed from a distance!
Hall's of Ivy

This popular Louisiana Iris variety is a greenish-yellow color with a green line signal and green style arms. A very tall (36"), very robust, and very vigorous grower! A bright and cheerful cultivar.
Honey Star
This creamy Louisiana Iris with buff wine effects also appears apricot when veiwed from a distance. It has a rich yellow signal and is 34". We think its kind of unusual!
Irish Bayou

This somewhat newer variety is a deep rose pink with a yellow arrowhead signal. A robust grower at 36". Since this is Solas Gardens, we love anything with even a remotely celtic theme!
